Cheri Marie Carey, 76, of Denver, went to Heaven on March 23, 2023.
She is survived by her children, Lynette and Brett, and her grandchildren, Adam and Lauren. She is also survived by her younger sister, Rayna.
Cheri was a person with many skills and abilities. During her life, she worked in sales and cashiering, as well as education. She retired from the Cherry Creek School District where she worked with special needs children. Afterwards, she was fortunate enough to do sewing for a small pet business.
Anyone who knew Cheri knew of her passion and immense talent for sewing. Along with sewing, she was an avid crafter and baker. Cheri showed her love through her sewing and craft creations. It was not uncommon to receive a hand crafted gift for a birthday or at Christmas. Her labor of love was seen in every detail and stitch sewn. Of course, she didn't need a special occasion to bless someone. Baking bread, "smiley" cookies, and chocolate chip oatmeal cake was yet another way she showed her love and appreciation.
Cheri had a big heart! Thinking often of others and always willing to help, she used her God-given talents and abilities to bake, sew, and create for others. She also liked to sit and talk. She would often say, "I've got big shoulders, I can take it. Tell ole ma," allowing someone to share their burdens and pains.
She cared deeply. She loved deeply. Cheri loved to laugh and joke around. She didn't take herself too seriously and "what you saw is what you got."
She was an amazing mom, a terrific grandma, or "Dabo," to her grandkids, a great sister, and a wonderful friend, co-worker, and neighbor.
Cheri was greatly loved, admired, and respected.
She will be sorely missed.
The reception, with lunch, will take place at 2:00PM on 4/1 at 7665 E. Eastman Ave. #D-104.
"We watched her take her last breath, as she watched us take our first." -Brett
