1921-2010

Born March 13 1921 in Denver, Colorado to Frank Allison (Krouskos) and Athanasia Allison (Tyrovolas). Predeceased by brothers, Steve and Nick, sisters, Georgia and Titsa.

Chris attended St Elizabeth Catholic School in Denver, where he served as an altar boy, he also served as an altar boy and was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church.

Chris graduated in 1938 from Denver West High School. Chris worked for his father in the family candy store and a local print shop before joining the Army Air Corps in 1943. Chris was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant and served
as a navigator on a B 17 in the 8th Air Force, 91st Bomb Group stationed in Bassingbourn, England. Returning from their 6th mission, over the North Sea, in March 1944, a bomb was inadvertently released by another B 17 flying in the formation. While descending toward the sea, they were attacked by a German fighter, but were able to make a water landing. All crew members survived. They were taken prisoner by the German Navy, then transported to Stalag Luft 1, Barth, Germany.

After being liberated by the Red Army at war's end, Chris and other prisoners aided in the relief of the concentration camps. After a stay in Paris, Chris was stationed in Long Beach until being discharged at the end of the war in the Pacific.

Upon returning to Denver, Chris ran his father's parking lot, until getting into the saloon business in 1962. During that time, Chris met Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Durkee. Chris and Betty were married November 13, 1948, living in Denver, Aurora and settling in southwest Denver. Chris and Betty raised four sons, Frank, John (deceased) Steve and Deno. After the saloon business, Chris worked for the City and County of Denver Assessor's department until retirement.

Chris was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Being good natured and friendly, he made many friends over the years.
Chris had many joys and interests, especially his Sunday morning "Shvitz."

Chris is survived by his wife, Mary E. "Betty" Allison; sons, Frank, Steve (Lorraine) and Dino Allison; grandchildren, Lydia, Lucia, Pete, Steve and Tony and great grandchildren, Max, Walker, Sarah, Claire, Jon and P.J.
