Our Lovely, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Christine Virgil, passed away on April 30, 2021 in the home of her grandchildren, Daniel Tibbitts and Michelle Lucero. Christine was a strong and loving women who fought cancer all the way to the end.
Christine was born on March 12, 1931, in Weld County, Colorado to Candido Virgil (1895-1980) and Maudie Virgil (1906-1969).
Christine grew up in Frederick, Colorado with nine siblings, four brothers, Kenneth, David, Theodore and Lloyd (Sonny) and five sisters Frances, Katherine, Sarah, Rosella, and Dorothy (Jennie). Christine had nine children, five girls, Laura, Joyce, Paulette, Darling and Kathleen and four boys, Leroy, Daniel, Marvin and Rodney. Christine is survived by her children, Paulette, Daniel, Darling and Kathleen, twenty-four grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Christine worked as a bar tender for twenty-eight years and was also a homemaker. Christine raised all her children, grandchildren and many other children within the community. Christine loved playing cards, cooking, she loved plants and flowers, animals and kept a clean home and loved to dance to music. She lived by the Golden Rule, thou shall not steal and her favorite quote was, "It takes two things to get mad and get glad."
Christine started volunteering at a Senior Center, working as the kitchen supervisor at age 70, until the age 88 years old.
Christine was a loving, generous, compassionate, giving woman, all her life, to her family, friends and others who entered her life. Christine will continue to be loved by each of us and our memories of her will live on forever more.
A Celebration of Life for Christine will be held at Newcomer's - West Metro Chapel, 901 South Sheridan Blvd., Lakewood, CO, 80226, starting at 11:00 am, viewing and 12:00 pm Service, following the interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Wheat Ridge, CO. Following the service, everyone is invited to a gathering at the 52eighty club located at 7575 Broadway, Denver, CO 80221.
