Chuck Cooke

June 28, 1944 — July 17, 2022

Chuck Cooke, age 78, of Lakewood, CO was born on June 28, 1944 to Charles and Aileen Cooke in Denver, CO. He was the third of four children. He met Gwen in 7th grade. They dated for a short time when attending Wheat Ridge High School. He always teased that it was during football season. They started dating again the summer of their junior year of college, got engaged in the Fall and married in the Spring of 1966. He received his B.A. from the University of Colorado.

Chuck and Gwen had two sons, Chuck of Wheat Ridge, CO and Wade and his wife, Tina, of Gilbert, AZ. He loved and was extremely proud of his five grandchildren, Mason, Emma, Lauren, Skye and Zeah.

Chuck had several jobs but his heart was always in ministry. His nine years on Young Life staff held a special place in his heart. He also helped found a ministry in Phoenix that helped homeless families. When returning to Colorado, his heart was in volunteering at the formation of Whiz Kids, an organization that seeks to mentor and tutor at-risk children. He volunteered up to the day he died-31 years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Arvada Covenant Church, 5555 Ward Road, Arvada, CO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Whiz Kids Tutoring, 5500 E Yale Ave, Suite 101, Denver, CO 80222.
