Clarence L. Smith, Iii

August 16, 1964 — November 7, 2021

Clarence L. Smith, III (aka Lil' Clarence to family) was born August 16, 1964 to Clarence, Jr. and Clydene Smith in Atchison, Kansas. Clarence, III became the older brother of three more boys born to Clarence, Jr. and Clydene, Christopher (deceased), Ceasar, and Charleton. He spent his early childhood in Atchison, attended some of his primary school years there in the town where his father grew up and his mother attended college and began her teaching career. Then his father decided to move the family to Denver, Colorado in 1972. Clarence, III continued his primary education in Denver Public Schools. Clarence, III went straight from those primary school years into the workforce. He was very multi-talented. He not only worked in various fields but became quite a skilled craftsman at many. He did everything from landscaping, auto body repair (his father's trade he picked up under his tutelage), warehousing logistics, and auto mechanics where he would buy cars, complete any mechanical repairs needed, then resell them. He even dabbled in stone cutting when that industry began to take off. Clarence, III had recently began studying a new craft/discipline, that of Information Technology and was on track to complete his AAS degree in 2022. During Clarence, III early working years he fathered two beautiful daughters, Tanaia (1982) and Samantha (1983) who have become some very accomplished ladies themselves. Clarence, III believed in staying in shape. He would go to the gym regularly, walk, and ride his bike. He also enjoyed traveling; his most recent trips to Florida had him contemplating moving there. Clarence. III developed so many meaningful friendships throughout those years; he was a dear friend to many. He was most notably a caring uncle, cool cousin, proud father, and most importantly a beloved brother and son. He finally became a grandfather to a beautiful girl named Winter (Tanaia) in 2019. No matter what kind of times would bring him, Clarence, III always had an uplifting spirit about himself.

Clarence III is survived by his mother, Clydene Smith; three brothers, Ceasar L. Smith, Charleton L. (Veronda) Smith and Mark May; two sisters, Cheryl Fuller and Windy Smith; daughters, Tanaia Smith and Samantha Richard; one granddaughter, Winter; nine nieces and nephews, Mark May, Jr., Markayla, Martika, Theodore, Ceasar II, C. Marcus, Kylah, Imani and Kori; three great-nephews, Cayden, Theodore Jr. and Ezekiel; one great-nieces, Taniah; aunt, Robin Givhan; uncle, Kenneth Peterson and numerous extended family and a host of friends.

He is preceded in death by bother, Christopher L. Smith, father, Clarence L. Smith, Jr., grandmothers; Vera Z. Peterson and Doris E. Smith and grandfathers; Robert E. Givhan and Clarence L. Smith, Sr.
