Clementina Ramos Sixta, “Clem”, was born February 15, 1930 in Laredo, Texas to Carolina and Antonio Ramos, and died October 24, 2024 in Spring, Texas. She was the beloved wife of William “Bill” Sixta for 66 years.
Clem was a devoted and loving mother to her children: Tony ( Karen) Sixta, Frank ( Jennifer) Sixta, David ( Mary Jane) Sixta, Joanna (Jim) Zernell, and Mary Margaret (Mark) Vidmar. She had 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Clem attended Seton School of Nursing in Austin, Texas, earned her Registered Nurse license in 1950 and worked many years as a school nurse for the Laredo Independent School District. She served the community as a well -known and respected nurse, who tended to many dog bites, lacerations, and various childhood diseases (like chicken pox).
As a fierce advocate for children, Clem would take on male principals who were using fear and humiliation to intimidate young children and she prevailed. Both Clem and Bill loved children and always found opportunities to love and cherish them. (Particularly during mass, when random children were fussy, they would engage the child and make them happy!) They clearly valued children and were both committed to praying for our youth, even at 3 a.m. at the local church.
She had a very deep faith in God and was committed to the Catholic Church. Clem had a true servant’s heart, always alert for opportunities to help or serve others. Her sweet kindness was so genuine and deeply rooted in her soul, it never left her, even when her memory failed. Many people were touched by her love and faith, and her great legacy of love will continue to bring us joy and comfort.
