Cora Josephine Parsons

October 3, 1936 — January 13, 2023

Cora Josephine Parsons, a resident of Aurora, Colorado went to be with God on January 13, 2023. Her husband Paul, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren were by her side during her last few weeks bringing her peace, love and comfort
.
Cora was born on October 3, 1936 in Anvik, Alaska to Jessie and Billy Williams. She attended school through the 8th grade. She met the love of her life, Paul Michael Parsons while working as a waitress in a small café in McGrath, Alaska. They married On March 8, 1956. Together they raised their children and were married for 66 years.

Cora spent 25+ years working in the school cafeteria for the Aurora Public Schools Food Service. She continued to work after retirement well into her 70's. No one was allowed to go hungry. She enjoyed her work and loved the children often sharing their stories. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed teaching her cooking skills especially to the young ones.

Cora loved people, being around her loved ones, and living life to its fullest. She was thankful to Paul for providing opportunities for her and her family to travel to many places both in the U.S. and abroad. They made sure their children were aware of their Alaskan Native heritage visiting Anvik every summer. She loved her home and having visitors. She would always assure people that "everything will be ok".

Some of her favorite pastimes were bingo, shopping for herself and others, feeding her birds outside, and spending time with her family and friends. When told of something funny she would say, "that's crazy!".

She had many pets through her life. In her early years in Anvik, Alaska she had her own sled dog team as a means of transportation around the village. She continued her love and care for her latest dog Chuck for whom she cooked a special meal of "dog pot".

Cora had a heart of gold and showed kindness to everyone she met. Her love for her friends was special and she would do anything to help them day or night. Her legacy will live on within each and every soul she touched.
