Danny L. Becker Sr.

July 4, 1935 — October 17, 2020

Danny Lyle Becker Sr. was born on July 4, 1935 to his parents William and Opal Becker, in Waurika, Oklahoma. As a young child, Dan was just 5 years old when his only brother was tragically killed at the age of 16. He spent much of his early childhood, working on the farm with his family.

At the age of 12, Dan attended a church revival in Talpa, TX, where he stood as a young boy barefoot who ran in for some fresh air and then ended up accepting Christ as his Lord and Savior and begun what many have witnessed as a lifetime of Love for Jesus.

Dan graduated high school from Earth High School in Earth, TX, in 1953.

He then attended college at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. After a year and a half in college, he joined the US Army. Shortly after joining the army he met his soulmate Mary Alice during a church service, in Lawton, Ok while serving on the army base. One year later Dan and Mary exchanged their vows in front of God and their families and begun their beautiful journey. While in the service during the Korean conflict, Dan was assigned to teaching Radar to fellow soldiers and assisted as a co-author in writing a procedural manual for radar for the armed forces. In 1957, after completing a full term of service, he was honorably discharged due to an injury. He and Mary moved to Lubbock TX where they welcomed their first son Danny Lyle Becker, Jr. After beginning a career with Quaker Oats company he was transferred to Denver in 1963. Their second child was born in 1965, Steven Ross Becker. Dan and Mary begun getting involved and serving at Parkview Bible Baptist and shortly after they welcomed their third child Todd Allen Becker. Dan spent much of his early adulthood serving through church working as a Sunday school teacher, a youth leader and also working to reach many young followers to live their life for the Lord. Dan always encouraged his boys to live for the Lord and ensured that he gave them a good role model to follow. After 20 years with Quaker Oats company, Dan and Mary opened an antique consignment shop called Mardan's. Through their interactions with many visitors in their shop they sought every opportunity to share the word of God with their customers. In the early 90's, Dan and Mary brought their family to begin attending Tri-City Baptist Church, where they felt instantly at home. Dan taught bible study at Tri-City for 17 years. At the age of 75, Dan felt led by the Lord to complete a course study to become an ordained minister. On September 23, 2012, Dan completed his course and became an ordained Baptist minister under Pastor William Senn. Dan spent the majority of his life with a faith in God that led him to touch an insurmountable number of lives. No matter the challenges he faced personally he spent his time focused on preaching to others the importance of a life following Christ and praying that everyone around him would accept the Lord Jesus Christ to be their savior.

Dan was preceded in death by his father William Becker, his mother Opal Murray, and his brother Melvin.

Dan is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Alice of Arvada, Colorado. His three sons, Danny Jr. of Midland, TX Steve of Westminster, CO, and Todd of Aurora, CO. He is survived by 2 grandsons and 5 granddaughters, 9 great-grandsons and 2 great-granddaughters, Grandsons and Grandaughters in Law. His brother-in-law Bob Humphries, his wife Paulette Humphries, nieces, nephews and many more family members and friends.
