It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Daphne Margaret Behlen, who left this world on February 25, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on October 27, 1941 in South Norwich UK. Daphne lived a life rich with love, laughter and poignant memories that will forever resonate within the of those she cherished.
Daphne’s journey began in the quaint corners of her hometown and later took her across the ocean where she became a proud citizen of the United States. She pursued her education with dedication, attending Belleview College in Nebraska before completing her studies at Colorado Christian University. Beyond her academic accomplishments, Daphne was an adventurer at heart. At just 20 years old, she set off to explore the captivating landscapes of France, Italy and Europe showcasing her spirit of independence that she held dear throughout her life.
While working for the Ducati family in Italy she met James Behlen in 1963, married him at Hughenden, Buckinghamshire U.K. in 1966, moved to the United States and became a naturalized citizen. Together, they welcomed two children into the world, bringing joy and fulfillment to her life. A devoted mother, Daphne was known for her unwavering support towards her children and grandchildren, instilling in them the values of kindness, resilience, and independence. She made every gathering a celebration, ensuring that laughter and warmth always surrounded the dinner table—her passion for bringing people together through good food was one of her most treasured gifts.
Daphne was a proud mother to her son Paul and daughter-in-law Karen Behlen, as well as her daughter Lorna and son-in-law Matt Babcock. She delighted in the company of her grandchildren, Genevieve Behlen, Renae Rosendahl, Drew Parsons, Connor Babcock and Shane Babcock, each one a shining star in her life. Her influence and love will live on in their hearts, echoing through the stories they will share and the traditions they will carry forward.
Beyond family, Daphne’s zest for knowledge manifested in her love for reading, particularly history and biographies, as she sought to understand the world and its people.
Daphne is preceded in death by her beloved brother, Anthony Woods. Their bond was a testament to the love that permeated Daphne's life and she will forever hold him, Mike and Lois Behlen and the Behlen family close in spirit.
The legacy of Daphne Margaret Behlen is one of strength, compassion and joy. She graced the world with her presence, leaving behind a tapestry woven with rich memories and love that will be cherished by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and shall be remembered while enjoying a cuppa Tetley tea.
