Darlyce Irene Day of Highlands Ranch, Colorado passed to Heaven at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, on August 15, 2021. Born on January 20, 1935 to George Johnson and Maxine Johnson (neé Ehrich) in Rockham, South Dakota.
In 1954, Darlyce married Ronald Richard Day in Redfield, South Dakota. Together, they had nine children: Richard (Candy), Timothy (Cheryl), Kevin, Scott (Deanne), Ronald Paul (Lisa), Kathleen (Michael), Peter, Margaret "Peggy" and Martin (Susan). The Day family continued to grow over the following decades, resulting in a total of 17 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, Darlyce enjoyed oil and watercolor
painting, cooking and baking, decorating, crocheting, knitting, playing bridge, shopping and traveling.
Above all, however, she enjoyed being around friends and family.
Darlyce was greatly dedicated to her faith throughout her life and was considered a pioneer of the Christ on the Mountain Church in Lakewood, Colorado with her husband. They remained involved in the church for many years.
While raising their children, Darlyce and Ronald lived in South Dakota, Ohio and Kansas before settling in Colorado where six of their children and two of Darlyce's sisters currently reside.
Darlyce is survived by her three sisters, Donna (Eddie), Daunine (Jack), Barbara (Ron) and one brother, Dennis "John". She is also survived by four sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews. Darlyce was preceded in death by her parents, her devoted husband of 60 years, Ronald, who passed in 2014 and their daughter Margaret "Peggy" who passed in 1966.
Darlyce's services will be held on September 3, 2021 at Christ on the Mountain Catholic Church, 13922 W Utah Ave. in Lakewood, Colorado. Rosary will be at 10:30 am and the funeral mass will be at 11:00 am. There will be a reception at the church after mass.
