Darold Burnett Sr, 89, of Aurora, passed away Sunday 18 March 2023.
Darold is survived by his wife of 63 years Carmen Burnett. He was born to the late Elmer and Helen Burnett, December 20, 1933. After graduating High School, he wanted to join the Navy, but there was an extended delayed enlistment, chose to enlist in the Army. He married Carmen K. Rubio on July 4, 1959, in San Antonio, TX. After several moves from military assignments, they decided to settle in Aurora, CO.
Darold served in several capacities, during his career including cook, lineman, medic, and nurse.
His extensive training and experience facilitated his lone assignment to a clinic on a Nike Hercules missile base in Korea and MASH hospitals for several tours in Viet Nam. He retired honorably in 1976. With children still in school he became a mail carrier and clerk with the U.S. Postal Service, where he retired after 20 years.
Darold was an active member of Buckley Space Force Base, Catholic church. He served as president of the Aurora Veterans of Foreign Wars for two years. He enjoyed camping/hiking on his Colorado property with close by hunting and fishing.
Darold is survived by four children: Darold Jr, Tanya and Rebecca of Aurora; Thaddeus of Dallas. He also has eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He is welcomed to heaven by his father Elmer, mother Helen, sisters Lola and Evelyn. Not to mention his Military buddies and close friends, Denver, Ernie, Johnnie and Jim, all members of the Johnnie straight arrow club.
