Darrell Ray Dearborn, a beloved father, son, brother, and friend, passed away in Brighton, Colorado on June 13th, 2023, at the age of 68. He was born on July 6th, 1954, in Galveston, Texas, to Raymond and Juanita Dearborn.
Darrell grew up with his family in Bacliff, Texas. In 1972, he graduated with his diploma from Clear Creek High School, where he laid the foundation for his future achievements, and prepared himself to serve his country. Darrell served honorably as a Medic in the United States Army from 1973 to 1979. He also pursued higher education while serving and obtained an Associate's Degree in Nursing from Alvin Community College in 1978. From there, he embarked on a rewarding career at a Medical Branch Hospital in Houston until he decided it was time for a change. Driven by his love for the Earth and its natural beauty, Darrell pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Geology from Metro State University of Denver, which he earned in 1986. This degree led to him embarking on a career in the environmental field, working as an Air Quality Specialist with the Underground Storage Program in Jefferson County, Colorado from 1990-1998. In 1998, Darrell embarked on a new chapter in his professional life, joining the State of Colorado where he dedicated many years of service until his retirement.
Darrell was married twice during his lifetime. His first marriage lasted from 1973 to 1989, and from this union, he and his former spouse were blessed with their two sons, Matthew and Stephen Dearborn. In 2012, Darrell found love once again and entered into a second marriage, which lasted until 2022.
Darrell possessed a deep love for exploration and the great outdoors. He enjoyed road trips, camping, skiing, hiking, biking, rafting, and just about anything that would be considered an adventure. However, above all other pursuits, Darrell's true passion resided with his family. His unwavering dedication to his family was the foundation upon which he built his life. He was an incredibly devoted father to his three sons, Matt, Stephen, and Matthew. , and was so proud and honored to be "PawPaw" to his five grandchildren, Tyler, Rylee, Avery, Paisley, and Gisela. His love and guidance has played a significant role in shaping their lives, and his memory will continue to live on through the generations he leaves behind.
In addition to his children and grandchildren, Darrell is survived by his Father, Raymond Dearborn, his Brother, David Dearborn, and his Sister, Carolyn Moore. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Juanita Dearborn, Sister, Sandy Dearborn, and his beloved dog, Patron.
Darrell leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and a zest for life. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of his family and friends. May he rest in peace, knowing that his spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral arrangements will be held at Mile High Church in Lakewood, CO where family and friends will gather to pay their respects and celebrate the life of Darrell Ray Dearborn. In this time of grieving, may we find comfort in the memories shared and the love he brought into our lives
