David M Castor, 88, of Denver, died Wednesday January 24, 2024. He was born to the late Russell and Dorothy Castor on October 08, 1935, in Noblesville, Indiana. David's family briefly moved to Lander, Wyoming and Sante Fe, New Mexico before finally settling in Colorado where David graduated from Lakewood H.S. in 1954. David married Eunice F. Berger in 1964 and enjoyed 56 years of marriage before Eunice's passing in 2021.
David started his career at the USGS as a cartographer in 1959 and retired in 1990 after 31 years of service. He was proud of his service in the U.S. Army and had the opportunity to serve in South Korea in the mid-50s immediately following the end of the Korean Conflict. He had deep love for his country, family, friends and neighbors. He was a loving, supportive and patient father to his son Dave and doting and devoted spouse to Eunice. David and Eunice took great pride in their home of 52 years located on Miller St. in Wheat Ridge. David was incredibly handy, had a knack for fixing things and could often be found tinkering with his impressive collection of Tonka trucks and model cars. He was blessed to have exceptional neighbors who watched out for him as he watched out for them. Despite being plagued in his final years by an almost laughable litany of ailments, he soldiered on and got the most out of his life by simply refusing to stop.
David is survived by his only son Dave. He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Dorothy, his brothers Ted and Ned and spouse Eunice.
