David Ernest Kelly, 73, of Aurora, went to be with his Heavenly Father Saturday evening, September 12.
Dave was born to the late Joseph Ernest & Anna Kelly, 1946 in Camden, New Jersey. Dave was raised as an Army GI brat with his brother, John. His happiest childhood memories are the years his family spent in Orleans, France and he maintained his ability to speak fluent French throughout his adult life.
Dave had a keen sense of wanderlust and adventure that started at a young age, extending into adulthood. For most of his adult life, he owned his own wallpaper and painting business. His claim to fame was wallpapering the Blair House in Washington, D.C. before President Reagan took office.
He settled in Colorado with the love of his life, Margaret, and their daughter in 1980. When he came to know the Lord in 1984, he zealously and passionately devoted himself to the pursuit of knowledge and truth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. His desire was that everyone he ever met or came in contact with would know his Lord!
The great outdoors was his sanctuary and he never passed up the opportunity to photograph His creation. Dave was known to risk life and limb to capture that perfect shot! Even through Parkinson's, he never lost his zeal for the outdoors and his photography.
Dave would like to be remembered by his passionate love of his Lord, his love of family and friends, and his zest for life.
Dave is survived by his wife Cheryl H. Kelly, son David Charles (Rusty) & Suzanne Kelly, son Roger Stirling & Cori Kelly, daughter Hetty R. & Kurt Carlson, step-daughter Rachel H. & Thomas DeBaillon, 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren.
Dave is proceeded in death by his parents Joseph Ernest & Anna Laura (Gill) Kelly, brother John Kelly, beloved wife Margaret (Murray) Peggy Kelly, son Michael Shane Kelly, great-granddaughter Nevaeh Marie Kelly.
