David Carter Hendricks

July 30, 1936 — March 4, 2022

David Carter Hendricks was born in Ottumwa, Iowa on July 30, 1936. He joined his creator to see the sunrise on March 4, 2022.

David studied for the ministry early in his life, but determined he couldn't tell others how to live their lives and decided to pursue other opportunities. He joined the US Navy and achieved a rank of Petty Officer. He had several careers after his service to the country ended. He was in the trucking industry and ran his own business - Herbally Yours Food Store, for many years. After that, David continued to utilize his expertise in the natural healing and worked at Vitamin Cottage for over 20 years. He was still working part-time there in February. David was a shining light in the lives of his co-workers at the West Colfax store for over 20 years. They adored him. He will be missed by the employees and customers who needed his expert advice.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister. He enjoyed reading different versions of The Bible in his spare time. He is survived by his longtime friend and companion Wanda Schad. She enjoyed driving him where he needed to go for errands and drove him out of town for mini vacations. They enjoyed each other's company and had breakfast and lunch many times a month. He was her longtime guardian angel and she his. Although her nick name for him was butt head, she will miss him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, Wanda is requesting that donations be made to one of his favorite charities, the Denver Rescue Mission.

Services will be held at the Fort Logan National Cemetery on Wednesday, March 23 at 11:30 AM. Please meet at Funeral Entrance South of Hampden, east of Sheridan, Staging Area B at 11:15 . You will be escorted to the area where a brief ceremony will be held with military honors.
