David Arnold Sanness, 81, of Aurora, passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021.
He was born to the late Arnold and Anna Sanness on March 6, 1940, in Spring Grove, Minnesota. David graduated from Spring Grove High School in 1958, where he was the 1957 Homecoming King, and received his B.S. in Chemistry and Teaching Certificate from Luther College, Decorah, Iowa in 1963. He married Else Loftis on April 13, 1974 and they lived together for 48 years in Aurora.
David was drafted into the United States Army almost immediately upon graduation from Luther College and was granted an Honorable Discharge after four years of active and reserve duty. After briefly student teaching high school science, Dave decided to take a different career path and moved to Denver to become a Master Electrician, at which he worked for more than 40 years.
David loved living in Colorado. He was a loyal and avid Denver Bronco fan, although he always kept a place in his heart for the Minnesota Vikings. For many years, he loved returning to the family dairy farm in Minnesota to help with the haying and other chores. To the end of his life he was a regular letter writer, staying in contact with family and friends around the country.
David is survived by his wife, Else Sanness; his three step-children Susan Loftis Krause, Paul Loftis, and Robert Loftis; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Alice Jo and brother Sidney.
Out of respect for the health of everyone during this pandemic, there will not be a memorial service.
