David Allen Whalen, 64, of Aurora, Colorado passed away on Friday, November 10th, 2023.
Dave, as he was known, was born in Eastport, Maine on July 27, 1959, to Robert and Beverly (Hicks) Whalen. He graduated from Bedford High School in Bedford, Massachusetts in 1977 and immediately entered the Air Force where he served his country for 21 years. He treasured his time in the Air Force and all the relationships he made along the way, particularly in his role as a First Sergent. He served two tours in Germany, one at Hahn AFB and the other at Ramstein AFB. While in the Air Force, he also got his MBA and moved into Software Testing when he joined the civilian world.
During a stint at Lowry AFB in Denver, he met and married his wife, Laurie (Albertson) Whalen on August 8, 1981. A few years later he welcomed his daughter, Emily, and later his son, Christopher.
Dave was always looking for "changes in latitudes" and loved the music of Jimmy Buffet. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, a pirate at heart, and loved being a Grampy!
He is survived by his wife, Laurie Whalen; his children Emily (Andrew Moser) Whalen and Chris (Liz) Whalen; his grandson, Alexander Whaser; his grand puppies, Elvis and Dwayne; and his brother, Robert Whalen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Beverly Whalen; and his brother, Timothy Whalen.
