Dee Dee Avery passed away peacefully on Jan. 24, 2022 in Aurora, CO. She was born in Kansas City, KS on Jun. 13, 1950 and later moved with her parents and sister to Wichita, KS, where she graduated from high school. She moved to Colorado in 1976. While working at Cherry Creek Inn in 1982 she met her lifetime partner and spouse, Tom Avery. They married on Apr. 6, 1985 and lived in Aurora.
Dee Dee made friends wherever she went; she loved everyone and everyone loved her. She was always smiling and would remember your name after even the shortest encounter. Many of her closest friends were gained through her love of reading and cross stitch. She loved old movies, crossword puzzles, and classic rock. Dee Dee's pets were her children and she and Tom rescued as many as they could over the years.
Dee Dee is survived by her husband Tom, niece, Mindy Miller (of Broken Arrow, OK) and 2 rescue dogs, Bo and Remy. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Dr. Clifford Jones & Marjorie Reynolds, her sister, Karen Miller, aunt Jean Mikita, and many rescue dogs and cat.
A memorial to spread her ashes will take place in June. In lieu of flowers and gifts, donations can be made to The Denver Dumb Friends League or other animal rescue organizations.
