Deborah (Debbie) Henn was born in Washington, DC to Dr. Conley Lowther and Kathleen ("Patsy")(Furman) Lowther on October 1, 1951 as Deborah Lee Lowther. She passed away on November 18, 2022 at St. Anthony's hospital in Lakewood, CO.
Debbie's father died when she was 18 months old. She and her mother moved to New Orleans and lived there with her grandmother, Mary Furman. Debbie's mother was diagnosed with bone cancer when she was 37 years old and passed away at age 44 when Debbie was only 14. Debbie and her grandmother moved to Morgantown, WV in 1966 to live with her uncle and aunt, Darwin and Agnes Furman who graciously opened their home to them. Debbie graduated from Morgantown High School in 1969. She attended West Virginia University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with an accounting degree in 1973. She married her high school and college sweetheart, William (Bill) Henn July 7, 1973. She began her career in Washington, DC, working as an accountant for the Federal government in the Fish and Wildlife Service. After three years she transferred to Lakewood, CO, where she continued to develop her accounting skills. With the exception of a short time working in Portland, Oregon, she spent the remainder of her career in Lakewood. She was an excellent accountant and others looked to her when they had difficult accounting problems. She was a member of the Association of Government Accountants. Debbie retired on August 31, 2008.
In 2001 God called her to go on a mission trip to minister to orphans in Uganda. This was quite a stretch for her since she had never even gone camping. She sponsored a 12-year old orphaned Ugandan girl. Her sponsorship provided food, clothing and the opportunity for the girl to go to school. She felt a special connection with the girl because Debbie was orphaned when her father and mother died and she was still so young. Debbie developed a very strong faith in the love and power of God in her life and in the world. She wanted to share her love of Jesus with the orphans in Uganda.
Debbie went through a lot in her life. She had such a brave heart and kept going through all sorts of adversity. She loved to laugh and have fun. Her laugh was infectious and made others feel lighthearted. She hosted "game nights" at her house for years and got very excited about playing. She was one of the nicest people anyone could meet. She always had a smile for everyone. She loved God with all of her heart. She had very strong moral character and faith. In recent years she was unable to attend church, but still gave generously to support God's kingdom through donations to various television Christian ministries. If you want to make a donation in Debbie's name some of her favorites were Daystar Television Network, Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) and Andrew Wommack Ministries.
The only surviving relatives are cousins in Ohio and West Virginia. She is survived by many very close friends who loved her dearly and will miss her greatly.
There will be an open house on January 21, 2023, to celebrate Debbie's life. It will be at 5581 South Miller Street, Littleton, CO 80127 (Debbie's home) from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Please plan to come to share memories, stories, etc. about Debbie.
