Debra Jane Charlton,70, of Arvada died Wednesday Jan. 02, 2019 at home with loved ones.
Debbie bravely and gracefully battled, but finally succumbed to pancreatic cancer. She was
born to E.Lee Fondren and Dorothy Jane Fondren, Sept. 25, 1948 in Denver. Debbie attended
Cherry Creek High School for most of her high school years, but had to continue earning her
diploma, while temporarily living in San Francisco, CA for her senior year. Debbie returned back
home to Colorado and then attended, and received a nursing/medical assistant certificate from
Colorado College in Denver. Debbie worked in the OB GYN field for almost her entire career.
She also cared for infants, as a night- nanny, where many of the babies she cared for were
multiples and many special needs newborns, in her spare time. Over the many years of caring
for newborns, Debbie was very much sought after and her calendar stayed booked for months
in advance, many of the mother's to be would book Debbie's night time care giving services,
months prior to them giving birth, just to make sure that they had Debbie's skilled time and help,
reserved for only them. Most of her newborn babies' families treated her and considered her as
part of the family. After retiring from the medical field, Debbie continued the caregiver role and
was entrusted by many families, to care for both their homes, as well as their beloved pets,
while they would be on vacations/etc. Debbie was also very much sought after and also stayed
very busy, in this important role. Debbie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends most
of all. Debbie was a football fan, especially her hometown team the Denver Broncos. Debbie
also always participated in cheering her grandson Stephen on, for his little league and high
school games over the years, while he either played or coached. She enjoyed taking mountain
drives in the beautiful Colorado Mountains, especially to view aspen trees. She also enjoyed
home decor, cooking, baking, movies and was an avid reader, that spent many hours in the
local library.
Debbie is preceded in death by both of her parents, E.Lee and Dorothy Fondren, as well as her
only son, Sean Michael Blomberg. Debbie is survived by two daughters: Jennifer Soffa (married
to James Soffa), of Arvada, CO; and Tia Wilcox (married to Trevor Wilcox), of Olympia, WA;
Three grandchildren, Stephen Kilian, of Westminster, CO; Tabitha Wilcox, and Timothy Wilcox,
both of Olympia, WA. Debbie is also survived by a sister, Sheila DeBaets, of Aurora, CO and a
brother, Greg Fondren, of Denver, CO; Two nephews: Matthew DeBaets (married to DeAnn
DeBaets), of Livermore, ME and Brian DeBaets, of Evergreen, CO; As well as an uncle, Earl
Fondren, of Wichita Falls, TX.
Debbie was a compassionate, caring and wonderful person to anyone and everyone that knew
her. She was always fair, and treated everyone she met with courtesy and respect. She was a
true class act. She loved people, animals and the earth. Debbie was a joy, and will greatly be
missed. Her family will have a huge void in their lives, with her passing. Celebration of her life
will be continuing and ongoing, within her loving family, as well as amongst, her loving friends.
Her ashes will be scattered, so that she may be with her beloved son, near Red Rocks, in
Morrison, CO.
