DeLayne R. Smith , 74, of Englewood, died Friday, August 21, 2020, at Englewood.
He was born to Doryce and Melvin Smith in 1946.
DeLayne lived most of his life in Englewood. He joined the fellowship of First Baptist Church of Englewood in 1977 and stayed very involved with church activities.
He was drafted to serve in the Vietnam War. He served in the US Army from 1965 to 1966.
DeLayne overcame adversities and managed to live his life fully despite them.
He worked as a dishwasher at Bundy's Restaurant on South Broadway until it closed, then moved to Stuart Anderson's Black Angus restaurants.
After retiring, he used RTD to travel around the metro area.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Doryce, and step-father, Irving Newton Jr.
DeLayne is survived by a number of good friends and brothers and sisters of First Baptist Church of Englewood.
He was dearly loved by his community and will be missed.
