Delores D. Martin

June 2, 1935 — September 26, 2023

Delores Dean Martin, a cherished member of the Dean, Milligan and Martin family, peacefully passed away on September 26, 2023. She was born as Delores Dean in Port Arthur, Texas, on June 2, 1935, and was the youngest of twelve cherished children born to Ralph and Luella Dean.

She attended Manual High School in Denver, CO where she shined in her studies and showcased her exceptional talent as a member of the girls' basketball team, earning numerous trophies and accolades during her time on the court.

After her high school graduation in 1954, Delores pursued her passion for caring for others and obtained her Associate's degree in Nursing. She dedicated her career to nursing, working tirelessly as a compassionate nurse at the former Denver General Hospital. Her dedication to healing and caring for those in need was a testament to her servant's heart. Delores continued her nursing career with the city of Denver, working as a Psychiatric Nurse for the Denver Cares program until her retirement in the late 1980s. Her dedication to her profession, coworkers and her patients left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In the sacred bonds of matrimony, Delores was twice blessed. She married LaSeal Milligan, and together they were blessed with four children: Pamela, Kevin, Keith, and David. Later in life, she found love again and was joyfully married to Howard T. Martin until his passing in 2008. Their love was a shining example of devotion and companionship.

Delores' commitment to her faith led her to become a founding member of the Park Hill Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Within her church family, she served in various capacities, including as a board member, church clerk, hospitality committee member, deaconess, and treasury department member. Her devotion to the church and her faith was unwavering.

Delores was a formidable athlete, as she was also a long-time member of several bowling leagues where she was lovingly referred to as "Dee" by her fellow bowlers. She amassed a great many trophies as proof of her remarkable athletic abilities. Her determination and competitive spirit shone brightly at the bowling lanes.

Beyond her professional achievements and her service to her church, Delores embraced life's adventures with her beloved husband Howard. They shared a passion for travel, exploring the country in their motorhome, and enjoying the peaceful days of family vacations. Her love for the outdoors was truly a testament to her adventurous spirit.

Words cannot fully capture the essence of Delores Dean Martin. She was strong, kind, courageous, and a woman of unshakeable faith. Her intelligence, compassion, and classiness endeared her to all who crossed her path. Delores possessed a wit that could bring a smile to anyone's face, and her beautiful smile radiated warmth wherever she went. She was a true people-person, offering wisdom and faithful spirituality to those in need.

Delores was preceded in death by both of her parents, all eleven siblings, her beloved husband Howard Martin, her grandson David Bryant Milligan Jr. and her daughter Pamela Denise Mobley-Griffin. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service that will forever be cherished by her remaining three sons, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, extended family and close friends.

Delores was a shining example of strength, faith, and unwavering love throughout her life's journey. As we bid farewell to our dear Delores, we find comfort in knowing that she is awaiting the Lord's return, her beautiful smile ready to shine eternally in His presence. May her soul rest in eternal peace with God, and may her memory be a source of inspiration to us all.
