Delores Trujillo

December 8, 1936 — September 22, 2023

Delores Picon Trujillo, born in Grand Island, Nebraska on December 08, 1936, joined her parents Felipe Amador and Manuela (Flores) Picon, her brother Frank Picon, and sister Angelita (Picon) Ramirez in Heaven, peacefully, comforted with her son by her side, in Fayetteville, North Carolina September 22, 2023.

Delores or (Queenie, or Golden Girl) as she was referred to by her loving siblings was a woman of principle, family, and Faith. Born and raised in a small town, Dee was baptized, received her first Holy Communion, was confirmed in the Catholic Faith, and graduated High School in 1955 from St Mary's Cathedral, Grand Island, NE. "Queenie" excelled in both academics and sports as a young woman playing Right field for the local women's softball team sponsored by the local dairy Fairmont Foods. She eventually moved to Denver, Colorado in 1961 where she joined National Farmers Union Insurance for 43 years, and met and married Patrick Solano in 1962, the father of her two sons (Stephen Anthony and Christopher Martin). Dee's passions beyond her siblings, children, and work were travel (Mexico was her favorite destination), All Denver Sports teams (especially the Broncos (Season ticket holder since the 1960's)), going "Up The Hill" to the casinos, her grand children and great grandchildren, and the Military Veterans community. Delores was an energetic Democrat shaking hands with President Clinton as a representative Board member of the Denver Chapter of the American GI Forum. Dee remarried in 1981 to Manuel L Trujillo (U.S. Navy Retired) whom she will be buried with. Dee, the Golden Girl will be remembered by those who knew her for her legendary toughness, fighting spirit, grace, dignity, smile, and beautiful soul.

Delores is survived by her sister Lucita Mary (Picon) Sandoval, sister SanJuanita (Picon) Valadez (Ricardo), sister Marie (Picon) Massey (Denny), brother John P Picon (Susan), her son Stephen A Solano (Renee), Christopher M Solano (Ada), and three grandchildren Erica Berzins, Andrew Solano, and Christopher Adrian Solano, and two great grandchildren Esmee Berzins, and Enzo Berzins. The many nieces and nephews who were all so very close to her and loved her very much and a very special recognition to her nephew George Ramirez and his wife Dian Ramirez who were her loving care takers and life support when her children could not be present, God Bless You.
