Dennis R. Courtright, 82, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away Wednesday December 11th, 2024.
He was born to the late Raymond and Alice (Heller) Courtright, May 16th, 1942, in Endicott, New York. Dennis graduated from Owego Free Academy and held a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology. He was married to his wife Patricia (Piper) for 60 years, and they lived together in Canandaigua, New York for many years before relocating to Aurora, Colorado in 2010.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife Patricia, his daughters Cathryn (John) Stark of Powell, Ohio and Caryn (Jeremy) Orr of Aurora, and his beloved sister, Margaret Whitney of Owego, New York. He is also is survived by his treasured grandchildren; Sarah (Evan), Aidan and Helena, and great-granddaughters Ava and Millie. His love for his family extended far and wide, across all branches of his family tree.
Passionate about all things mechanical, Dennis was awarded several patents related to his work at Hydroacoustics, Inc. in Henrietta, New York, where he designed underwater sonar equipment for oil exploration and military applications.
Prior to moving to Colorado, he was a member of Canandaigua Baptist Church and a board member for the Ontario County Historical Society. More recently, he was an active member of Calvary Church in Aurora, and a reliable volunteer at the Hope Starts Here Food Bank. Dennis was an avid reader and a student of American history. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, genealogy and travel with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Hope Starts Here Food Bank (www.hshfoodbank.org), the Ontario County Historical Society (www.ochs.org) or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital (www.stjude.org).
A Celebration of Life will be held at Calvary Church (18900 E Hampden Ave, Aurora, CO) on Saturday, January 18th, 2025 beginning at 10am Mountain Standard Time. All who shared life and love with Dennis are welcome to attend. Proceedings will be streamed live for those who cannot attend in person (live.calvaryco.church). Private burial will be at Lake View Cemetery in Interlaken, New York.
