Derick Martinez of Denver Colorado (The Nutty) passed suddenly on March 31, 2021. Survived by his wife Erika Houston, Stepson Giovanni Childs and daughter Ofelia Martinez. Also survived by his parents Jim Navin, Diana Manning, Brother Joey Martinez and the grandson of the late Joe and Percy Manning.
Derick met the love of his life Erika Houston and his stepson Gio in 2013 a year later they welcomed their daughter Ofelia she brought so much joy into all our lives. They were inseparable since the day they met.
Derick loved bowling and joined several leagues with hopes of bowling that perfect game and getting a 300 ring he also loved being outdoors going camping and fishing and telling the stories of the fish that got away.
Skateboarding was also something Derick absolutely loved and wanted to become a professional skateboarder but since that did not go the way he planned he found his love for playing poker, slot machines, lottery tickets and winning the big jackpot or joining the World Series of Poker tournament. He made many trips to Black Hawk and Central City .
Derick was a huge sports fanatic he loved everything from football to golf he was a diehard fan for the Home Teams Denver Broncos, Colorado Rockies and the Denver Nuggets always sporting his Rockies or Bronco jersey's. One of his favorites of course he loved the Oklahoma Sooners since it was his dad Jim's favorite team which was one of the many bonds they shared.
There was never a dull moment when Derick was around if there was a bet or a challenge he would take it from drinking a bottle of hot sauce, eating a bee for $2.00 or swimming across Sloan's Lake and the list goes on and on. Any challenge or bet he would always accept and try his best to win.
Most importantly Derick had the biggest heart, he never met a stranger every one he talked to became his friend instantly. The love Derick had for his family and friends was beyond measure and there was nothing Derick wouldn't do for the people he loved. Derick was loved by all his extended family and friends, especially his best friend/cousin Mike Pedroza.
The love he left behind will live in our hearts forever, although our lives will never be the same without him. He will be missed more than anyone could imagine.
