Our precious Mother, Sister, Grandma (Pakadee), Great Grandma and Friend passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday December 14, 2024. She was surrounded by the people she loved the most as she left this world and met Jesus.
Dee was born January 26, 1945 at St Anthonys Hospital in Denver to Elmer and Henrietta Clay, and her older sister Karen.
In 2008, she retired from civil service after a long career with the Department of Defense at Lowry AFB. This allowed her time to focus on her family, her many animals, her passion for travel and serving others through her volunteer work. She especially enjoyed volunteering with Colorado Puppy Rescue and the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo.
Dee and her husband George opened G-Ducks Bar in 2004. Over the last 20 years, she took great joy in meeting people and welcoming them into the G-Ducks family.
Dee is survived by her daughters Melissa (Kevin) Doyle and Erica (Robert) Thorne; her grand-children Brandon (Rachel) Kern, Mikayla Kern, Abigail Thorne, Hannah Grace (Landon) West, Emily Doyle, Rob (Kayla) Doyle and Johnny Doyle; 3 great-grandchildren and her sister Karen Clay. She is preceded in death by her husband George Settelmeyer and her parents.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the ICU team at Advent Health Porter Hospital for the care and compassion they showed Diana and her family in her final hours.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10 am on January 25, 2025 at St Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church (4740 S Buckley Rd, Aurora CO 80015). A Celebration of Life will follow at 2 pm at G-Ducks Bar (15420 E Hampden Ave. Aurora CO 80013).
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in her memory to Best Friends Animal Society (bestfriends.org).
