Diane S Dillingham was born Dec 6, 1948 and adopted by Max and Margaret Dillingham of Owosso, Michigan. She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Larry Grauberger, her brother Daniel Dillingham and his family (Joy his wife, Jeffery, Jessica, and Julianne his three children and 5 grand children) all who live in the Detroit Mi. area, plus numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many many friends considered family.
Diane graduated from Owosso High School in 1966 and was part of the YFU Chorale of Ann Arbor that toured Europe and Great Britain in 1965. She attended Albion College, Western Michigan University and Michigan State University and moved to Colorado in 1972, where she was a buyer/consultant at a wedding boutique, worked in the hospitality industry managing restaurants and lounges and served as vice chairperson of the Denver chapter of the Colorado-Wyoming Restaurant Association and the Colorado State Board of the CWRA in the late 1970s and 80s.
Diane loved politics! As a teenage volunteer, she volunteered for George Romney's 1963 campaign for Michigan Governor. In the 1980s and 90s, she served as an executive committee member and vice chair of Denver County Republican Party, House District 6 captain and a delegate to Republican National Convention in Houston in 1992. During that time, Diane was campaign manager for Gloria Gonzales Roemer's Congressional run and numerous state representative and senate candidates, as well as volunteer coordinator on Don Bain's campaign for Denver Mayor. Feeling like the GOP left her; she became an unaffiliated voter in the late 90s.
Always community-minded, Mayor Webb appointed Diane to an interim post in the Denver Elections Division in 1995, and she served on the City and County of Denver Community Corrections Board for 8 years. A strong advocate for women's rights, she sat on the boards of state and national foundations and non-profit organizations to ensure access to the health and educational opportunities women need to thrive.
A voracious reader, Diane's favorite books were mysteries & thrillers but she also loved both fiction and non-fiction books about the history of Great Britain's royal families and political issues. Her impressive intellect, wicked wit and very special spirit will be sorely missed.
