Doane O. Ludington
March 30, 1932 - March 25, 2020
Doane O. Ludington, age 87, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2020. Born March 30, 1932, in Ord, Nebraska, he was the son of the late Leonard Ludington and Clara (Doane) Ludington. He graduated from Ord High School in 1950.
Doane joined the U.S. Air Force in 1952, served 20 years with one year of duty in Vietnam during the Vietnam War, and retired from service in 1972. While stationed in St. Johns, Newfoundland, he met and married Frances Murphy. They had 2 daughters Sandra and Cindy. After divorcing Frances in 1969, he married Millie Deardorff (deceased) in 1971.
His second 20 year career was as a mechanic in the elevator industry.
He was a kind, gentle, trustworthy and loving family man. Always joking and spreading laughter with everyone he met. He loved hunting, fishing, cooking and gardening. He enjoyed weekly coffee club time with his buddies Robert, Paul and Jim.
Doane was preceded in death by his wife Millie, daughter Sandy and sister Carole Brinkman. Doane is survived by daughter Cindy (Sandy Page) Ludington, stepson John (Sue) Deardorff and stepdaughter Vickie Nelson. Grandchildren Darby (Kathy) Lutz, Penny (Matt) Mooney, Jennifer (Mike) Decker, Chad Deardorff, Cheri (Jeff) James, and Steven Nelson. Nine great grandchildren, nieces Vickie Sedlacek, Yvonne (Jim) Dutiel, great nephew's Chris (Wanda) Thomsen, and Michael (Monica) Sedlacek.
A Memorial will be planned at a later date, as the circumstances allow. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans in his honor.
