Dolores M. Carr

August 26, 1938 — June 9, 2019

Dolores M. Carr, 80, of Aurora, passed away June 9, 2019.

She was born August 26, 1938 in Sturgeon, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Primus and Hilda. She was a graduate of West Allegheny High School. On August 4, 1956 Dolores married Charles Carr Sr. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Noblestown, Pennsylvania.

Dolores was raised in Champion Hill Pennsylvania; where she met her loving husband Charles. Together they raised a strong Catholic family in Moon Township, Pennsylvania and Aurora, Colorado.

She was affectionately known as Dee or sis by family and friends. Dee helped to volunteer whenever she saw a need. In her younger life she was active with her children in scouting, helping with swim team, and teaching catechism.

But the early 80's brought a change as Charles was transferred to Denver; leaving behind a loving family and great friends. Dee found this as an opportunity to give more children a wonderful home.

Becoming foster parents and establishing a group home for more than 60 special needs children over the course of 20 plus years they raised another family. Dee and Chuck saw that all we baptized, received first communion, and fostered a faith in God with these children. Dee, with Chuck by her side, traveled the country with Special Olympics. Dolores loved the beach and Disney so the "foster" family had the opportunity to enjoy vacations.

After hanging up her busy life with the group home/ foster children a life event opened up a new volunteer opportunity with Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital.

Dolores was always loving, caring, and concerned about her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She helped them in many different and unique ways. She ensured they all knew how much she loved them and cared deeply about their goals and accomplishments. Her strong Catholic faith and willingness to volunteer will be missed by many.

Dolores is survived by her husband, Charles R. Carr, Sr.; children, Charles R. (Deb) Carr, Jr., Beverly M. (Donald) Baird, John J. (Maxine) Carr, Maryanne E. (Joseph) Novelo, Cynthia S. Carr, Lisa P. (Terry) Trudgian, and Deborah L. Carr; grandchildren, Erin, Emily, Abby, Nathaniel, Alyson, Benjamin, Katelyn, Rose, Kylie, Olivia, Kelsie, Cindy, Terry, and Hunter; great-grandchildren, Austin, Cambria, Greta, Dietrich, Rylie, Raylan, Amilia; and brother, Richard (Joy) Snatchko. She is preceded in death by her parents, Primus and Hilda; and grandchildren, Joseph and Alexis along with great granchild McKenzie.
