Dolores Lee (Guest) Freel, oldest daughter of the late Fred and Blanche Guest was born in Marceline, Missouri on April 20, 1926. The family moved to Pleasantville, Iowa when she was a young girl, where she and her four siblings, Vern, Charles, Clara, and Leo grew up.
After graduating from Pleasantville High School she worked for the FBI in Washington, D.C. She reconnected with Daryl Freel, also from Pleasantville, who was there with his Army unit returning from overseas. They were married in 1947 and moved from Iowa to Denver, where she worked for the Air Force Finance Center and later the Regional Office of Social Security in Lakewood.
Dolores was an active member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church and later, Wheat Ridge Presbyterian Church. She liked to cook and to travel, but her favorite thing was spending time with her family. Dolores and Daryl were married for 69 years and she is survived by two daughters, Karen and Kathi; two sons-in-law, Bill Powers and Doug Perryman; three grandsons, Jason and Brandon Powers and Brett Bumgardner; their wives, Laney and Jennifer Powers, and Kristin Bumgardner; and five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Thea, and Tess Powers, and Aubrey and Luke Powers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to Wheat Ridge Presbyterian Church in Dolores's name.
A private family service will be held at Fort Logan Cemetary on November 16, 2022.
