Dolores Ann Nathan born on December 29, 1932 in Gary, IN she was the only child of her late parents Ezkeiel Nathan and Jimmie Torrence..
Her parents provided a loving home environment where education was encouraged and respected. Both parents worked hard at the steel mills collectively 45 years, she graduated from Roosevelt High School for nursing. From there Dolores enlisted in the United State Air Force in Cincinnati, OH in NOV 1952 and was a PBX operator . Dolores was stationed in San Antonio, Cheyenne, and Greenville SC. During her time in the service she met and fell in love with William P. Kennedy Jr. and was married December 24, 1954 in Cheyenne, WY. After William retired from March Air Force Base Riverside, CA they moved to Denver, CO to seattle down to raise their five children.
She has always had a spirit of caring for others as she retired as a Nurse from St. Joseph's Hospital after 20+ years.
As a person of faith since the age of 13 she joined First Baptist Church, Dolores remained a faithful, dedicated Baptist her entire life. She joined Lowry Christian Community Church and truly enjoyed serving her church in various aspects dealing with the adults down to the youth such as the Kitchen Angels, 12 Tribes, and Vacation Bible study. Not only was she a hard worker and volunteer, but Dolores was involved in social and political clubs throughout her lifetime, making a difference everywhere she went.
Sertoma (Service To Mankind) is a national service organization committed to improving the quality of life for those at risk or impacted by hearing loss.Dolores held an office as the President of the club. Service 100 7/1/2008, 10 Year Tenure Award 7/1/2008, Presidential Growth Award 8/30/2000, Friend of Sertoma Program 8/13/2012-12/22/2016, Attended Sertoma National Conventions in 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2007. And she was also with Colorado Black Women for Political Action (CBWPA) for many years.
Dolores enjoyed traveling and lived unapologetically, she chose to celebrate her birthday every year always on her actual birthday with the Golden Girls - Jeannie Davis, Faye Wilson, Beth Vaden, Bonita Brown, Shirley Hollingsworth and Marsha Greene. So many groups of women would travel all over the world and loved playing cards with the QUEENS.
Dolores loved her Denver Broncos and looked forward to the season so that she could fellowship with church members while cheering her favorite team with her cheerleading bear and dressed to the nines with her Blue & Orange, an outfit she kept in mint condition to this day. She also had many names Foxy Dee AKA Granny Goose AKA Shorty she was loved by us all.
Dolores had five children, one girl and four boys - Valerie P Kennedy-Jenkins, William P Kennedy III, Gerald A Kennedy, Dwight J Kennedy and John F Kennedy. She had 40 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, a host of many nieces and nephews, and cousins.
