Dolores (Dolly) Mathews, eighty-eight (88), of Aurora, Colorado, formerly of Dexter and Chelsea, Michigan, went home to heaven on March 26, 2019.
She was born the daughter of Theodore and Helen Matthews on April 4, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois. Her family moved to Dexter, Michigan, in the early 1940s as her father relocated to find work in support of the World War II effort. She graduated from Dexter High School and soon married Donald C. Alber (deceased), with whom she moved to Chelsea and had five (5) children: Christine (Richard) Abrams of Deland, Florida, JoAnn Alber of Chelsea, Michigan, Donna Alber of Aurora, Colorado, David (Evelyn) Alber of Ann Arbor Michigan, and Daniel (Lynda) Alber of Ypsilanti, Michigan. She had lived in Aurora, Colorado since 1987 with her husband, friend, and soulmate, Dale Williams.
She is survived by her husband, Dale, her children, and her brother-in-law, Richard French, two (2) grandchildren, Jeffrey (Annie) Alber and Michelle (Joseph) Seikel, as well as one (1) great-granddaughter, Madeline Seikel. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Rosemarie (Charles) VanAken and Vivian (Richard) French.
Dolly loved her family more than anything and was always thinking of them. She enjoyed music and was a member of Sweet Adeline's chorus for many years with which she and Dale traveled the county for competitions and events. She and Dale traveled often to their timeshare in Hawaii and visited many U.S. historical sites in their fifth-wheel camper. After retiring at the age of 62, she volunteered at the Aurora Police Department for over 20 years. She lived a wonderfully full life and will be missed. Cremation has taken place, and per her wishes, no memorial service is planned.
