Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Dolores Jean Pugh passed away surrounded by love from her family on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at the age of 87 years.
Dolores was born and raised in Bedford, Pennsylvania on December 7, 1934 to Kenneth and Virginia Harris.
Her family was transferred to Hampton, Virginia where she attended George P. Phenix High School. There she became Head Majorette and graduated in 1953.
Dolores moved to Portsmouth, New Hampshire where she met and married her former husband Robert L. Pugh Sr. (deceased). They raised two children together, Debra (Bill) Norwood and Robert Pugh Jr. (deceased).
Dolores lived in Europe where she was able to enjoy one of her favorite hobbies - traveling. An exciting time for Dolores was living on Edwards AFB in California in 1968. There she worked for NASA in the new Astronaut Space Training Program as Manager of the on site cafeteria before advancing to Lead Administration Assistant to the Flight Surgeon. She had the "Right Stuff".
Dolores was always quick to make a friend. When you were her friend, you remained her friend for life. She loved to play Bingo. She could play her cards, your cards and her neighbors cards without ever missing a bingo - yours included.
But what she loved the most, was hanging out, "Acting Up" and just having fun with all her grands, great-grands, nieces and nephews. Dolores loved, enjoyed and took great pride in her family.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Virginia (Allen) Harris, siblings Glenda Gay, Leroy Anthony and Margo Constance and her son Robert Lee Jr.
Dolores will always be deeply loved and forever remembered by her daughter Debra (Bill), grandchildren Tonia, Alexandria, Noelle (Cawaun), Cory and Madisen, great-grandchildren Dorian, Anaya, Alisa, Josyah, Kiera and Brooklyn, siblings Frances Helen and Wayne Terry, a loving community of nieces and nephews and a host of extended family and friends.
The family wishes to send a very special thank you for the love, excellent care and compassion that she enjoyed from her community of friends and family at Shalom Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
