Donald Geist left this earth peacefully at the hospital on January 11, 2023, at the age of 93. He will be remembered by many as a kind-hearted man who cared about all who were blessed to have known him.
Born in Kansas he grew up in the "dirty 30's". He describes how difficult this time-period was and how it influenced this generation. We loved his stories about growing up on a farm with his 3 brothers and his sister. Times were tough but they were resilient and managed to work together to make it work with what they had.
Don met Marcella at a dance and from that moment on he knew they belonged together. They were married in October of 1955 and had children Dave, Christy and Darrell shortly thereafter. Connie and Albert were born not much later.
He enjoyed his work as a Chemist but was fortunate enough to retire at the age of 52. He and Marcella moved to Lake Havasu shortly after retirement where they found boating, fishing, golfing, and a little gambling now and then in nearby Laughlin. They enjoyed their time in Arizona with family and friends where they gathered frequently for singing, dancing, good food, playing cards and loving life. They returned to Colorado in 2002 after 15 years in Lake Havasu. Shortly thereafter Marcella was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer and passed in September of the same year. He never got over her passing and devoted himself to the church, his family, the Disabled American Veterans and the HOA board where he resided. This kept him busy, and he felt a connection to these people he met along the way. He was a proud father, grandfather and great grandfather and loved to offer his advice on finance topics. He also loved his nieces and nephews and treasured the conversations with all of them.
He leaves behind his children Dave, Darrell, Connie (Robert) and Albert (Sheri), grandchildren; Nicole, Adam, Sarah, Rachel, Charise, Allyson, Christopher, Michael, Bonita, Christian, Marcella and Andrew and his great grand-children Brianna, Donald Connor, Zayda, Kiyannah, Onyx, Lucas, Seth, Wyatt, Weston, Brooklyn, Angel, Shawn and recently born great great grandchild Oaklyn. He also leaves behind brother's Robert, Alan, sister-in-law Jan, and brother-in-law, Art.
He will be reunited in heaven with his dear wife Marcella who passed in 2002, daughter Christine as well as his eldest brother Ed and younger sister Edna, father Albert, mother Philomena, Aunts Martina and Agnes, Uncle Junior, amongst many other family members who passed before.
