Donald H. Jorgenson of Arvada, Colorado was born on May 9, 1927 in Hamburg, Iowa, to Art and Veva Jorgenson. Don passed from this life quietly in his Arvada home on January 11, 2007.
Don proudly served in the armed forces from 1945 to 1947. Don married Phyllis Johnson in 1947, and they had three children, Michael D., Donna D., and Colleen Kay. Colleen died of SIDS at the age of six months.
Don worked for Max Carter and operated the Skelly service station in Sidney before moving to Boulder, Colorado in 1957. Don then worked for the Postal Service, Coors Brewery, and retired from Jefferson County in 1989. He was a member of the American Legion, Post # 0128.
In Sidney, Iowa Don was a lifelong Democrat, and avid supporter of the labor unions.
Don married Dottie in 1982.
Is survived by his wife Dorothy, daughter Donna Farrell of Broomfield, Colorado, sons, Jarold Cartwright of Spokane, Washington and Jonathan Cartwright of Orting, Washington, daughter Jamey Flynn of Arvada, Colorado; brother, Earl of Mead, Colorado; nine ghrandchildren; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Don was preceded in death by a son, daughter, three grandsons, and a sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the SIDS Foundation, American Cancer Society, and the Crohns Disease Foundation.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at Newcomer Family Funeral Home - West Metro Chapel, 901 S. Sheridan Blvd., Lakewood, CO. Service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at 2:00 PM at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery, Good Shepherd Mausoleum, 7777 W. 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
