Donald Ray Jackson

August 5, 1939 — October 13, 2023

Donald Ray Jackson, a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather passed away on October 13, 2023, at the age of 84. Born on August 5, 1939, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Nolan and Lucile (Dunken) Jackson, he leaves behind two daughters, a son, 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a sister.

In 1954, he moved with his family to Denver, Colorado. He was a loving and dedicated husband, having shared nearly 50 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Joy Brinkhoff. Together, Don and Joy raised four children: Vicki, Don, Laurel, and Dan.

Don's professional life was marked by his long and successful career with the Post Office. Early in his career he sorted mail on trains which generated his lifelong fascination with trains. Before his retirement, he had risen to an Operations Analyst with the Post Office. He was known for his diligence and unwavering commitment to his work, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and superiors alike.

In his free time, Don was a true "project person." He had a deep love for all things mechanical and a passion for working on cars. He was a skilled woodworker who had the ability to visualize potential. His work was intricate, beautiful, and detailed. He could build almost anything. His adeptness with tools and his ability to fix almost anything brought him immense satisfaction. He shared this enthusiasm with his family and friends, often helping them with their own mechanical endeavors.

Don had a green thumb and thoroughly enjoyed gardening with his wife, Joy. The two of them spent countless hours tending to their gardens. Their shared love for gardening brought them even closer together and created countless cherished memories.

Don also had a special place in his heart for his canine companions, Killer, and Peanut. Their loyalty and companionship provided him with endless joy and comfort throughout his final years.

While we mourn Don's passing, we take solace in knowing that he is now reunited with his beloved wife, parents, brother, sister, and his son, Dan, who predeceased him in death.

May he rest in peace, and may his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all.
