Donald Lee Ray was born August 7, 1927 at Haviland, KS to Curtis A. Ray and Ferol M. (Martin) Ray. He departed this life December 29, 2006 at Denver, CO. He was 79 years 4 months and 22 days old.
As an early child his family moved to Ingalls, KS. He rode his pony to the "Big Blue" school house. While in 5th grade his family moved to Cimorron, KS. He graduated high school lettering all four years in football. He had a four year scholarship to Kansas University but turned this down to serve in the US Army during WWII and the Korean War.
He married Lydia Burris June 3, 1951. To this union was born the most wonderful daughter Mischelle Ann.
Don was a Special Investigative Clerk for the FBI for 26 years. After retirement he enjoyed going to Grand Lake, CO in the summer and Phoenix, AZ in the winter. He had many friends both places. His dry sense of humor was enjoyed by all. He enjoyed deer and elk hunting and fishing.
Donald is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lydia of Broomfield, daughter, Mischelle (Terry) Mayer of Brighton, CO, sister Doloris Herron, Cimarron, KS, sisters-in-law, Dolores Ray, Denver, CO, Lillie Becker, Phoenix, AZ, brothers-in-law, Raymond Burris, Oregon, Wesley (Cleo) Burris, Wisconsin, 2 grandchildren, Pamela and Andrew Mayer, aunt, Anna Brueggeman, Kansas, Many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and many wonderful friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Dorothy, and brother, Dean Ray, several aunts, uncles, and other relatives. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Anthony Health Foundation, Attn: John Covert, 4231 W. 16th Ave, Denver, CO 80204.
