Donald Foster McBreen, 87 of Aurora passed away March 1, 2008. Donald was born in Parker, Colorado to Bonnar and Eunice McBreen. The family lived in Elizabeth, Colorado. At the age of nine, he "met" the love of his life, Lucille Fry where they attended Elizabeth school. They married on April 4, 1943 before Donald shipped out to serve in WWII. Donald spent 4 ½ years in the Army/Air Corp serving in the Southwest Pacific, Australia and New Guinea. Returning home from the war they started a family, daughter Susan was born, followed a couple years by son, Craig. Donald joined the Colorado Highway Patrol where he covered the state highways for 23 years, moving the family many times from Rangely to Artesia and back to Denver. While serving the state in Denver he was the official state pilot for Colorado Governors; John Love and Richard Lamm. Donald was active with his family and friends, the members of the 33d Troop Carrier Squadron and the community. He will be missed by many.
Donald is survived by his son, Craig (Karen), Aurora; 4 grandchildren, Khristie Barker (Michael), Hawaii; Greg Farrell (Cindy), Parker; Ryan McBreen (Jayme), Broomfield; and Katie, Massachusetts; and 6 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Lucille; daughter, Susan and brother, Robert.
Funeral service will be held March 5, 2008 at 11:00 at the Newcomer Funeral Home-Aurora. Visitation will be held Tuesday frp, 4:00–8:00pm. Interment, will be at the Elizabeth Cemetery in Elizabeth, Colorado. Memorial contributions may be made to Volunteers of America-Meals on Wheels.
