Donald Blane Moritzky, 91, of Lakewood, went to be with Jesus on Monday, May 18, 2020.
Donald was born in 1929 in Denver, CO to Ora and Mary Moritzky , and was the youngest of his siblings, Jim, Lilah, Mary, John, Wilma and Felix.
Donald lived in the Metro Denver area his entire life. After attending and graduating from North High School in Denver, he enlisted and served a tour of duty in the US Navy. After his military service, Donald attended Denver University and left there to attend Wheaton Bible College.
In the 1950's, Donald bought a home, met and married Annette Hoxsworth and had a family of four boys, Bruce, Gerald, Gordon and Paul (deceased). He is survived by his sons, Bruce (Bonnie), Gerald (Cecilia, deceased), Gordon, and his grandson Zachary.
A selfless, devoted family man, Donald worked a minimum of two jobs at a time in order to provide. If this meant he would go without himself, it was never a question of what came first….ALWAYS family. Although Donald himself felt guilty that he didn't spend enough time with his sons, they will say just the opposite……"Dad was always at our high school sports events and there when we needed him throughout our whole lives".
Next to his family, the most important part of Don's life was his religious faith. Unwavering in his faith, Donald supported and tithed to his church, donated to Christian charities, and attended service every Sunday at Applewood Baptist Church until his death. He was also an avid reader of Christian literature. Donald so loved his Lord and Savior and devoted his life to his faith.
In his younger years, Donald enjoyed hunting. He was a lifelong fan of football, especially the Denver Broncos, John Elway and Peyton Manning. He was a humble, selfless, kind and generous man, never denying a helping hand . Always a prideful, independent man, he did have a stubbornness about him and had difficulty accepting help from others, even in his later years when it was needed.
Donald will always be remembered fondly as a loving Father, Grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. May he rest in peace.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the service will be a private family affair. A memorial service at Fort Logan Cemetary will be scheduled at a later date when restrictions are lifted.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that a monetary donation in Donald's name be made to Applewood Baptist Church, 11200 W. 32nd Avenue, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 if you so choose.
