Mr. Donald Ray Wallin was born in Beaumont, Texas on January 22, 1944. He moved to Streets Paved with Gold on September 16th, 2023, joining his parents Wesley and Clara, and his daughters Carmen Wallin and Bridget Jackson.
In 1962, Donald Ray Wallin graduated from Manual High School and continued education at the University of Colorado at Denver and the University of Colorado in Boulder. In 1967, Donald enlisted in the United States Army. He was wounded in 1969 during the Vietnam War, receiving numerous decorations, including a Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Combat Medical Badge, the Parachute Badge and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device.
While in the military, Donald participated in Medical Corpsman, Special Forces Aidman, Military Justice, Geneva Convention, CBR training, Survival, Escape and Evasion, Emergency Medical Care Basic Training and Basic Airborne. Upon returning to civilian life, he obtained a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree.
Donald was an avid reader. He loved to travel, and enjoyed listening to Blues, Gospel and Jazz music. He also served the community in several fraternal brotherhood organizations. He was employed as a Statistician with the United States Census Bureau for thirty-plus years, until his retirement.
Mr. Donald Ray Wallin was the oldest of 6 siblings. He was preceded in death by his 3 of these siblings, as well as his mother and father.
Left to cherish the memory of Donald are his loving wife of 17 years, Carolyn Lynn Wallin; his daughter, Paula Mabry of Austin, Texas; three sons, Kevin (Lucretia) Maddox of Ballwin, Missouri, Oloyea Wallin of Charlotte, North Carolina, Lamaint Wallin of Orlando, Florida; Bonus Children, DaShawn (Kimberly) Walker of Denver, Colorado, Aquira (Ronell) Bell of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Gerald (Genesis) Hyman of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; one sister, Edith A. Wallin of Denver, Colorado; two brothers, Earl A. (Delissa) Wallin of Denver, Colorado, Angelus (Francesca) Guillory of Lansing, Michigan; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandson, and a host of other cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
