Donna Louise Axsom

Born in Burlington, Colorado on January 17th, 1933, Donna Louise Axsom (nee Murphy) passed away on March 12, 2023, in Denver, Colorado. Her parents, John Murphy and Mary Youtsey, arrived separately in Eastern Colorado as homesteaders at the beginning of the last century. There they met and married and Donna was the youngest of their seven children. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1951 and married Bruce Axsom, of Denver, the following year. She spent the next twenty-seven years raising her own family before graduating with an associate degree in Medical Records Management from Arapahoe Community College in 1979. She traveled the country working for Johns Manville before taking a job at Lutheran Hospital, where she worked until she and Bruce moved to Maui in 1985. She finished her career at Maui Memorial Hospital in 1992. Donna was fierce and beautiful, with a contagious laugh and a boundlessly generous spirit. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 62 years, Bruce, and her son Chris and she leaves behind a daughter, Lu Ann Valles, a son, Scott Axsom, a daughter-in-law, Donna Jacobsen, two granddaughters, Kim (Christian) Olson and Desiree Valles, a great-grandson, Luke Olson and a sister Leah McDowell as well as beloved nieces and nephew
