Donna Elizabeth Gillet

February 17, 1947 — January 5, 2025

Aurora, Colorado

With deep sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of Donna Elizabeth Gillet, who was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 5, 2025.

Donna was born on February 17, 1947, in Wichita, Kansas, to Katherine Hannibal and Isaac Howell. She was lovingly raised through the union of her mother, Katherine, and Lawrence Hannibal, receiving guidance and support throughout her life.

Donna was the eldest of fourteen siblings, Michael Hannibal (preceded), and Charles Jackson (preceded), Paula Brooks (David Brooks), Junetta Doss (Michael Doss),David Hannibal(Hasinta Hannibal), Deborah Stewart (Wichita, Kansas), Beverly Stewart (Wichita, Kansas), Paula Stewart (Wichita, Kansas-(preceded), Valerie Stewart (Wichita, Kansas), Sheila Stewart (Wichita, Kansas), Roslyn Stewart (Wichita, Kansas-(preceded), Isaac Stewart (Wichita, Kansas-(preceded), Nowell Stewart (Wichita, Kansas), and Katie Howell Ellis (Wichita, Kansas).

Donna was married to Richard A. Gillet Sr. from June 1965 to October 1975 and was blessed with one son, Richard Anthony Gillet Jr., (Tammy), who lovingly cared for Donna in her final years until she transitioned peacefully in her son’s arms into God’s presence.

She held a deep love and appreciation for her aunts and uncles: Vincent Jackson, William Jackson, Vernell Anderson, Junetta Anderson, and George Jackson.

Her devotion to her family extended to her cherished grandchildren: Dauntele Gillet(Brandon), Richard Isaac Gillet, Nicole Jane’ Homer-White (Courtney), Princess Collins (Geno), and Cassandra Wideman.

Donna was a high school graduate and worked as a CNA until 2001, when she became disabled. Donna embraced life with passion, taking on each day with wisdom, mutual respect, compassion and demanded the same in return. She found joy in fishing, music, and bingo, especially with her sisters Paula and Junetta.

She shared special moments with her nephews Michael, Deshawn, Kanye, David Jr., Isaac, and Isaiah, Charles Jr. as well as her nieces Joy, Kim, Melanie, Felicia, Valerie, Coyea and Tony. Donna also loved and spent meaningful time with her many cousins and great cousins.

Her unwavering love, compassion, and devotion to her family and friends will forever be remembered and cherished by all who were blessed to know her.

Though our hearts ache at her absence, we rejoice in the knowledge that she is now in the presence of her Savior, where there is no more pain or sorrow. We are comforted by the promise of John 14:2-3: “In my Father’s house are many mansions…I go to prepare a place for you.

“A celebration of Donna’s life and faith will be held on [date] at [time] at [location]. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor her memory.”

To God be the glory for a life well-lived and a faith unwavering. Rest in peace, Donna Gillet.
