DORIS J. GATLIN was born JULY 3, 1940 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the parents of JOHN GORDON and ELNORA SOMERVILLE.
Doris received her formal education in Minnesota. She moved to Denver, Colorado in the late 70s where she worked for Samsonite luggage company for a number of years.
After she left Samsonite she did some domestic work, Until she joined the House of Joy Miracle Deliverance Church Inc. in 1985 and found her passion. Mother Doris taught Sunday school and worked in the daycare kitchen for several years. Most would say that she was an excellent teacher and cook. She remained at HOJ as a faithful member. Mother was a quiet reserved person who didn’t like much attention. But once you got to know her, you had to love her, she had a great sense of humor.
She loved reading her Bible, listening to gospel music and going out to eat. Mother Doris loved talking to her sister Georgia Lee on video calls. Modern technology proved to be a really good thing as it kept them connected. Being able to see her sister‘s face gave her great joy.
On The morning of February 27, 2025, Mother Doris peacefully transitioned into eternal rest.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, John Gordon and Elnora Somerville and siblings; Jane Ella Brown, Geneva Ruth Brown, and Imogene Simpson. She leaves to cherish her memory, a sister, Georgia Lee Wallace, and a brother Larry Brown and many other relatives and friends.
