Doris F. McAllaster, 94, of Denver, passed away April 5, 2018.
She was born January 23, 1924 in Sterling, Kansas, the daughter of Max and Hurchel Bourgain.
She was a graduate of Sterling High School in Kansas. She attended Sterling College in Sterling, KS.
On March 23, 1944, she married Ansel H. McAllaster.
Doris was a member of Northwest Baptist Church in Westminster. She was also a former member of various quilt clubs, including Never Enough Quilts Quilt Club.
Doris was an avid quilter. She loved to arrange flowers and sing in the church choir. She volunteered for many jobs in the church. She also enjoyed cooking and camping with her husband, Ansel. Doris loved to entertain and was known for her hospitality. Family was important to Doris.
Doris is survived by three children, Cary M. (Peggy) McAllaster, Kathryn J. (Robert) MacNary and Phyllis A. (Bill) Stewart; six grandchildren, Janet M. (Tom) Studnicka, Laura M. (Jeff) Ruediger, Paul E. (Aimee) Dress, Amy M. (Jason) Taylor, Lisa A. Swanson and Karl F. Swanson; nine great-grandchildren, Henry A. Studnicka, Clover J. Studnicka, Addison K. Ruediger, Alex E. Ruediger, Gabrielle P. Drube, Madalyn G. Drube, Mason K. Drube, Olivia Dress and Freya R. Soper and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Ansel H. McAllaster; father, Alfred Maxwell Bourgain; mother, Mary Hurchel Bourgain; sister, Audrey Chandler; brother, Wayne Bourgain and an infant sister, Lois Jean Bourgain.
