Doris S. Preuss, 83, of Lakewood. Passed away Saturday, March 7, 2009.
Preceded in death by husband Gerald Preuss and daughter Jeri Lynne Preuss Barnes.
Survived by stepson Bill (Dixie) Preuss; grandchildren Beth Huse, Brad (Virginia) Preuss, Todd (Dawn) Preuss and Chad (Lori) Preuss; great-grandchildren Kayla, Dalton, Delaney, Bailey, Nolan and Rylan, all of Omaha, Nebraska; sister Dorothy (Fred) Patterson and brother Eston L. Sherman, Jr., both of Florida; sister-in-law Vivian Preuss of Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Doris was a graduate of the University of Denver and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She worked as a secretary at Wilson Packing Company, where she met her husband Gerald "Jerry" Preuss. Her last employment position was as a secretary in the U.S. Forestry Service, where she retired early due to a heart condition. Doris was an accomplished seamstress, and enjoyed playing bridge. Her passion for travel created an interest in photography. She and Jerry were ardent cat lovers, and considered their furry friends part of their extended family.
Funeral Services, Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 11:00AM at the Applewood Valley United Methodist Church, 2035 Ellis St., Golden, with Rev. Michele Odell, officiating. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
