Dorothy Cribbs, 98, was born November 9, 1921, in Seibert, Colorado, to Helen Bancroft Rasmussen and Martin Rasmussen. She was called to be with the Lord on January 20, 2020.
Dorothy, better known by loved ones as "Dots" or "Dottie," grew up and attended school in Seibert, graduating in 1939. She shared top-of-the-class honors with her life-long friend, Dorothy Gillispie. The two Dorothy's shared some great school memories and shared their passion for playing basketball. They lived by their high school class motto, "Never Give Up," both living until they were 98-years old, remaining steadfast friends the entire time.
After high school Dottie attended Colorado Women's College in Denver, majoring in business. She was known and recognized there for her athletic talents, played basketball and even became licensed to officiate basketball games. She was fondly remembered by her classmates as very funny, athletic, and the kindest person on the earth.
After graduating, Dottie made real estate her life career, and called Aurora home until her last two years of life. She enjoyed getting together with her friends for a good bridge game or a day of golf. She enjoyed lunches at Ruby Tuesday or Rosie's Diner after her doctor appointments. Dottie loved her Broncos, had a passion for all animals, but especially her cats, and warmed people's hearts with her contagious laughter.
She married her first husband, Ron Fuller, in 1942. They divorced nine years later. In 1954, she married Ed Cribbs, later divorcing him in 1961. She never had children of her own.
Dottie is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Rose Barstad, and brother-in-law, J. Allan Barstad. She is survived by her two nieces, Sandi Austin and Karen Caston, their families, and extended family members and friends.
Newcomer Funeral Home in Aurora was in charge of her cremation. Her remains will be placed at Olinger Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Aurora, next to her parents and sister. At her request, there was no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dottie's name to an animal shelter of your choice. That would make her smile.
