“I never regret anything. Because every little detail of your life is what made
you into who you are in the end.”
~ Drew Barrymore ~
On February 16, 1984, our angel Ebonee Michelle Hughes was born to parents Leroy Hughes and Arlene Richards of Phoenix Arizona. A child destined and designated to carry out a divine purpose ordained by God had been born.
Ebonee was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Ebonee leaves to cherish her memory her mother Arlene Richards, father Leroy Hughes, stepfather Paul Richards, brother’s and sister’s; Rashad Landrum (Menyon Landrum), Tennesia Boateng (Joseph Boateng), Jamicia Hughes, Tina Taylor (Roderick Taylor), Elyse Oliver, Shannon Perry, Phoenix Hughes, Paul Richards III, Kendra Richards, Michael Caldera (who precedes her in death), nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.
In union with Roy Jones, they have a beautiful and talented daughter, Royal Jean Jones, who is much like her mother. Ebonee adored and cherished her daughter. She was the most important person to her.
Ebonee dedicated her life to Christ and love the scriptures. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 23.
Psalm 23:1-6 (NIV)
The Lord is my shepherd. I lack nothing. He leads me beside quiet waters. He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil for you are with me, your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies, you anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows. Your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen
Not only was Ebonee beautiful she was smart and creative with an entrepreneurial mindset. She graduated from Gateway High School Class of 2002 and went on to attain her associate degree in accounting. Her creativity consisted of designing handcrafted jewelry and knit work to name a few. Ebonee enjoyed working in the field of hospitality. She loved helping people.
She enjoyed any opportunity to travel with her family. The outdoors is where she loved to be, especially the beach. Camping and fishing were her fortes. She had a liking for seafood. She was considered to have an old soul as she loved to dance and sing to old school R&B tracks.
Royal blue was her favorite color. Royal Blue is a deep, vivid blue that stands out in a crowd. The color Royal blue has regal associations. It often denotes authority, trust, and confidence much like Ebonee. Blue is often considered a spiritual color as its hues make up the sky, which is representative of heaven.
Her demeanor and aura illuminated in such a way that her presence would light an entire room. Ebonee’s spiritual talents and gifts to this life will be greatly missed. We will all miss her bright and beautiful smile.
