Edward D. Widner

Edward D. "Pidge" Widner, lifelong resident of Delta County, died January 25, 2010, at the age of 72. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Elsie, and an infant son, Donald Allen. Pidge is survived by his devoted wife, Waneta, five siblings Lois, Ellen, Jim, Bob, and Linda; eight children, Danial, David, Dale, Debbie, Jim, Larry, Kelly and Ron; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Pidge, a commercial pilot, retired from Western Airlines in 1982. In retirement, Pidge became an entrepreneur, inventor, and self taught computer programmer who spent tens of thousands of hours in his shop, working on his invention; and was often found flying the skies over Delta County until only a few months before his death. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the VA Medical Center, General Fund, 1055 Clermont St, MS 135, Denver 80220.
