Edward L. Gann

October 17, 1946 — January 22, 2025

Edward died January 22, 2025, in Brighton, Colorado at the ripe age of 78.

Edward was born October 17, 1946, to Edward Gann Jr. and Elizabeth Rossbach Gann in Newark, New Jersey. He graduated from Vailsburg High School in 1964; was a lifeguard, then road surveyor before joining the United States Army in March 1967. 

He served until June 1990 in various fields of endeavor including Nike Radar Computer Repair. His interest developed in the medical field, so he took training and jobs In Hemodialysis; as a Medical Laboratory Specialist and as a Cardio-Pulmonary Technologist. He served as First Sergeant in 1984-1985 at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center. Deploying to Germany, he served as First Sergeant of 1st Combat Support Hospital, training all members of the hospital in a wartime hospital footing. Returning to Fitzsimons, he was in charge of the United States Army Medical Equipment and Optical School. He retired from the US Army after 23 years, having achieved the highest enlisted rank of Sergeant Major.

Looking forward to retirement, his next passion was aviation, earning his private pilot certificate and taking special training on Aircraft General/Airframe Mechanics and Helicopter Maintenance. He further earned his Inspection Authorization certificate. He loved working on all types and models of aircraft, but especially enjoyed working on “Tired Iron”, vintage WWII aircraft.

He is survived by his wife of forty years, Rebecca (Trom) Gann; brother Gregory Gann; nieces Stacy Gann Ling and Carol Lyn Gann Morris; nephews Gregory Gann Jr. and Gary Gann Jr.; and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; son Michael; brother Gary Gann and sister-in-law, Marcia Gann.
