Edwyna Lishon Franklin

May 7, 1953 — January 14, 2023

Edwyna Lishon (Thompson) Franklin was born on May 7, 1953, in Nashville,
Tennessee to Joane Elizabeth Thompson. She was the eldest of seven children
and was given the nickname, "Shonnie".

Edwyna attended Pearl High School and later moved to Denver in the 80's to
pursue a better life for herself and her four daughters. She furthered her education by attending Emily Griffith Opportunity School and received her GED in
1983. She worked in several different career fields.

Edwyna also called, "Shon" by her friends and was well known for her southern cooking, dancing, listening to music, playing card games, dominoes, backgammon, spending quality time with family, and get-togethers with friends. Edwyna was also known for hosting her yearly birthday bashes. Fond memories of Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Holidays are shared by her daughters. Edwyna always made sure on Easter her four daughters had the best Easter dresses and shoes to match. For Thanksgiving Dinner, she had "the works" and the family ate Thanksgiving dinner for several days after. On Christmas, there was so many gifts stacked under the tree, it looked like she had gifts for the entire neighborhood. She made sure her kids had a roof over their heads, clothes on their backs, and food on the table every day. She cared for and accepted all.

Edwyna Lishon (Thompson) Franklin departed this life to the embrace of the Lord on January 14, 2023, at UC Health University of Colorado Hospital in
Aurora, CO. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters Tonya Thompson, Doraline Thompson, Valonda Johnson, and Davonya Franklin, of Aurora,
CO; her brothers Frank Thompson McLeod, Michael Thompson, and Earl Thompson; and her sister Joane (Thompson) Muhammad; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends whose lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Joane Elizabeth Thompson, and her
younger brothers Ronald J. Thompson and Victor L. Thompson.
